Yet another BJP worker has been murdered in West Bengal. Jayprakash Yadav was killed near his home and three others, including his mother, critically injured when when bike-borne goons hurled crude bombs in Bhatpara of North 24-Parganas district.
As per a report –
“Witnesses said the persons threw at least four bombs, of which two hit BJP activist Jayprakash Yadav, a resident of Muktarpur, and killed him on the spot around 2.30pm.
The incident purportedly occurred when Yadav, a trader by profession, was speaking to his neighbours, with his mother standing near him.
She as well as two bystanders sustained serious injuries. All four were taken to the Bhatpara State General Hospital, where Yadav was declared brought dead. Hospital sources said he had suffered fatal head injuries from one of the bombs, damaging his cranium beyond repair.
The incident triggered panic in the area, which has been on the boil since the Assembly election results came out. In fact, violence is not new to Bhatpara, which has seen several incidents since the Lok Sabha polls of 2019. On Friday, goons had driven up in a car to the home of BJP leader Lalbabu Prasad and allegedly opened fire indiscriminately.”

“Yadav became a target because he was an active BJP worker and had played an instrumental role in the BJP’s victory in Bhatpara during the Assembly polls. It was a planned attack to eliminate him, and so the criminals hurled bombs at him, targeting his head from close range,” alleged the local BJP MP Arjun Singh.
With Yadav’s murder, the number of BJP party workers or their family members killed since the announcement of poll results on May 2 touched 27.
TMC leader and Jagaddal MLA Somnath Shyam followed his party’s time-tested technique to shirk blame for murders of opposition workers by claiming that it was a ‘fallout of the BJP’s internal feud’, and in turn accused Arjun Singh of ‘inciting tension’.
Despite hundreds of heart-rending videos and ground reports emerging from West Bengal, the mainstream media has turned a blind eye and has labelled the state-sponsored pogrom launched against Hindu supporters and voters of BJP as ‘alleged’ post-poll violence. Bharat’s courts have also failed in their Constitutional duty to safeguard the life of citizens, with both HC and SC refusing to take the matter on priority and issue orders against the Mamata regime. WB Police is not only refusing to act against TMC goons, in several cases the police has actively colluded with the ruling party to foist false cases on BJP workers and/or intimidated them to not lodge complaints.
The only Constitutional authority who has been doing his job is the 70-year-old Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankar, who is a former Supreme Court lawyer and member of Lok Sabha from 1989-91, representing Janata Dal. He has visited the camps of violence-hit survivors and repeatedly warned the WB government and police to stop the violence.
On June 2, more than 600 academicians from several states signed a joint statement against the post-poll violence in Bengal. They appealed to the National Human Rights Commission, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and the National Commission for Women to conduct thorough probes. On May 24, as many as 146 retired public servants, including former judges, bureaucrats, ambassadors and police and army officers wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind seeking an SIT headed by a retired Supreme Court judge.
However, nothing has worked to stop the Mamata regime from carrying out its campaign of terror and persecution. The Centre has not invoked either Article 355 or 356, the two tools provided in the Constitution to handle just such a breakdown in law & order as we are witnessing in West Bengal today.
