Seven Bangladeshi nationals were arrested recently from Choti village near Vasai in the Palghar district of Maharashtra. They had no valid documents on them and were living in Bharat illegally. Not much is known about the group since the matter may be under investigation by a national agency.
That such illegals infiltrate our porous borders is a well-known fact. Way back in 2016 Kiran Rijuju, the Minister of State for Home had put their numbers at 2 Crores! Interestingly their growth has been phenomenal. During the beginning of the 2004 UPA rule, the then Minister of State for Home estimated their numbers at 1.2 Crores. 50 Lakhs in Assam and 57 Lakhs in West Bengal! Some leaders have even mentioned numbers as high as 4.5 crores. This menace has now spread all over Bharat.
Rijuju comes from North-East, an area where the menace is for real considering the fact that both regional parties and the Congress have tried hard to assimilate these illegals into the general public. West Bengal also follows the same principle. This is also exactly the reason why Bharat’s government does not still have a real number to place on such illegals living here. Narendra Modi and the BJP, when coming to power, had asked these infiltrators to keep their bags packed but nothing concrete has happened, as yet.
In March 2020 Maharashtra reported deportation of 603 in the past 4 years. The then Home Minister of the state also reported 3341 Bangladeshi nationals staying illegally in the state. 22 were found living near Arnala, north of Mumbai, and on the way to Palghar. Such under-reported numbers do not inspire confidence in the general public.
Another favorite destination for criminal elements who cross illegally is Kerala. Malappuram and Perumbavoor are especially vulnerable. Local support is provided by Muslim political outfits like the SDPI and the IUML. They attempt to turn these immigrants into vote-banks by providing them with accommodation and jobs. That they indulge in violent crimes is an added incentive as far as such outfits are concerned.
There have even been cases of grooming jihad undertaken by drug-addicted Bangladeshi elements who reached Tamil Nadu, eloped with a Hindu girl back to Bangladesh illegally, converted her to Islam, and allegedly beat her to death. It was reported as just another case of ‘suicide’ and a case of suspicious death was registered. What kind of legal action can be initiated under such circumstances?
Bengaluru has a real influx of such illegals and includes many Rohingyans too. They live undetected in shanties and are claimed to peddle drugs and engage their women in prostitution. 2018 saw the arrest of Manirul Sheikh, a dreaded and top wanted terrorist belonging to the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen from Bengaluru where he was hiding for the past year.
What is astonishing is the fact that many have acquired Bharat passports, Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and other such documents that are specifically meant for Bharatiya citizens, only. How did they get hold of these and who helps them? The liberal media, activists, and the opposition parties react vigorously whenever any action is initiated against these shanties but turn a blind eye to their growing numbers.
150 illegal Rohingyas were moved to a detention centre in Jammu recently, and the Supreme Court accepted to hear an ‘urgent oral plea’ by advocates Prashant Bhushan and Cheryl d’Souza for their release! The same SC had contemptuously dismissed a plea by Kashmiri Hindus to probe their mass murder and ethnic cleansing, with then CJI Khehar saying ‘Are you making a drama here?’.
The Citizenship Amendment Bill passed towards the end of 2019 has been a step in the right direction. It offers expedited citizenship to the genuinely persecuted Hindu and other minority refugees from our Islamic neighbours. Along with the proposed nationwide NRC, it at least forced a few illegal immigrants to move back to their country, but most still remain, safe in the knowledge that there are many who offer them political and other patronage in Bharat. Only a comprehensive NRC can identity these illegals, strip them off the benefits they have acquired at the Bharatiya tax-payers expense, and initiate the process of their deportation.
The central government should finish what it promised – first, notify the long-pending CAA rules to grant citizenship to persecuted Hindu refugees; next, conduct a nationwide NRC to weed out illegal immigrants and drive them out of our country.
