A 16-year-old Hindu girl was raped, impregnated, threatened to convert and asked to abort by Naushad from the same village of Jamo in Amethi district, UP.
The saga began when the girl’s father went to work in Ahmedabad 7 months back. He came to know of this crime when he returned recently. Naushad had groomed and sexually abused the underage victim promising marriage and is now absconding.
The minor was physically exploited and when she became pregnant, Naushad and his father Islam visited the victim’s house and started urging her to abort the child and convert to Islam. The father-son duo also threatened to kill the family if they disagreed with their demands. Islam said he would marry his son to the minor if she converted to Islam.
The victim’s father approached the Jamo police station in Amethi with a complaint and the police started investigating immediately. Jamo police station sub-inspector VK Pathak informed that an FIR has been filed under non-bailable IPC sections related to rape, intimidation, the Uttar Pradesh anti-conversion law and relevant sections of POCSO. The father has also been booked for aiding and abetting the crime.
The Islamists are now on the run after the case was registered and the police have launched a manhunt for them. As per latest reports, Naushad has been arrested, but Islam is still absconding. The young girl has been sent for a medical examination.
Incidentally, Amethi is the backward pocket-borough of the Nehru-Gandhi family from where Sonia and her son Rahul won 4 consecutive Lok Sabha elections before Smriti Irani beat the Congress’ ‘youth icon’ in 2019.
