K Naushad who teaches Arabic to school children was arrested after it was found that he set up a mobile phone to record students using the washroom. The incident was reported from Pinarayi in the Kannur district. Naushad teaches at the RC Amala Basic Upper Primary School in Dharmadom.
An alert student found the camera of the mobile device working and informed her parents. They in turn notified the headmistress and a police inquiry led them to Naushad.
Police found that several such visuals were stored in his mobile phone that was used for spying. He was charged under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and was remanded to police custody.
Pinarayi is Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s hometown.
