Andhra: Pastor sexually abuses 10 year old

Another incident of sexual assault on a child by a pastor has been reported in Andhra Pradesh. The 48 year old pastor has been arrested under POCSO for sexually assaulting a 10 year old girl in Kakinada. He had threatened the girl to not reveal anything and tried to bribe her for the same.

Kalavala Gangadhar alias Sudhakar, a pastor in a church in the Kakinada rural zone of East Godavari district sexually abused the 10 year old girl child on June 28. As per the accounts of Sarpavaram police who arrested him, the pastor was present in an event in the local church. In the middle of the event he took the child away from the church and into cattle shed far away.

There, he is said to have molested the girl. As she started screaming, the frightened pastor stuffed a Rs.50 note in her hands and fled from there. He also threatened the girl to not reveal his despicable act to anyone. However, the villagers who reached the spot upon hearing the girl’s cry for help convinced her to reveal the truth.

Following this, the girl’s mother lodged a police complaint on the pastor on June 4. He has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. Incidents of sexual abuse by christian clergy regardless of denominations and financial clout is on the rise. While the pastors cry persecution to garner sympathy, in reality it is their followers who are persecuted by them.
