As many as five policemen and one home guard were stabbed inside a police station in the national capital on Wednesday, an official said. According to the official, the incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when the accused person arrived at the cyber police station in Shahdara district.
“The accused person has been nabbed and is being interrogated,” Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa said. Of the injured cops, the condition of one is said to be critical who has been shifted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre while the rest are currently admitted to the GTB Hospital.
The police are yet to share the motive behind the attack. Several media outlets (here, here, here, here) have covered the crime but no one has reported the name of the accused.

Shahdara is a part of the trans-Yamuna area in East Delhi, and is infamous for crime and illegal immigrant colonies. It consists of or is close to localities like Seelampur, Bhajanpura, Seemapuri, Chand Bagh, Jaffrabad which witnessed Islamist violence during the anti-CAA protests and subsequent anti-Hindu Delhi riots. Many colonies in the area like Brahmpuri, Sundar Nagari have already witnessed large scale exodus of Hindus.

23 June, 8.30 AM: As per News18, the accused has been identified is Bharat Bhati (28). The injured personnel have been identified as Head Constable Deepak, constables Amit, Manish, Naresh Sunil, and Homeguard Ravi. The accused entered the police station and started recording a video. When he was stopped by the police and was asked the reason behind his recording the video, the man suddenly took out a knife and stabbed several personnel one after the other.
Police said he also banged his head against the wall and injured himself. He claimed that he was a complainant, but no complaint copy was found on him. Further investigations are ongoing.
