Punjab: Gunmen open fire at Hindu temple, priest and one girl critically wounded

Unidentified gunmen stormed into a temple near Phillaur, Punjab yesterday morning and opened fire, critically wounding the temple priest Sant Gyan Muni and a girl, Simran (16). Both have been admitted to a hospital in Ludhiana.

The priest was hit by 3 bullets, and the girl with 2. It is said that the girl was shot when she rushed to the aid of the priest. The incident occurred in Bhar Singh Pura village of Jalandhar district.

Police is investigating the incident, and have not said anything about the motive as yet. Sant Gyan Muni had established the temple a few years ago.
