Noida: VHP & Bajrang Dal warn state-wide protest against illegal construction of Mazars

0

Over the past few months, there has been a considerable rise in the number of illegal Mazars in Noida. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have opposed the sudden mushrooming of Mazars in the city and adjoining Delhi.

Members of VHP and Bajrang Dal have threatened a state-wide agitation if the local administration fails to remove these illegal Mazars.

Notably, on April 28, the police clashed with Bajrang Dal activists at around 3:30 PM outside Noida’s Sector-39 Police Station. According to Dainik Jagran, some Bajrang Dal activists first ‘misbehaved’ with a policeman at the police station and a ruckus broke out. Subsequently, a heavy contingent of police was called to the spot after senior officials intervened. Some Bajrang Dal members were detained but were later allowed to go.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Meerut chief Dr. Raj Kamal Gupta has warned that VHP, Bajrang Dal, and other members of the Hindu society will be forced to take up a major protest across the state if the district administration does not act upon the mushrooming of Mazars swiftly and strictly. He also suspects the role of local police in safeguarding those who are constructing these illegal Mazars.

He said, “VHP and Bajrang Dal activists went to give a memorandum regarding these Mazars to the Noida Authority and the District Magistrate of Noida. While returning, they were attacked by some people outside the Sector-39 Police Station. Those people in plain clothes were later described by the police as their employees. Even after this, there was a vicious attempt to implicate our workers in a false case.”

He further said, “We demand that the policeman who made a public threat to kill our activist in front of the police station by pointing a revolver at his chest should be arrested without delay and strict action should be taken against those who have booked false cases against the activists. All cases against VHP activists should also be withdrawn.”

Manmohan Singh’s blanket support for west-driven globalization may need a reality check

0

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s Op-Ed piece in the Hindu (April 22) contained many thoughtful observations on the implications of the current Ukraine crisis for the international community and the opportunities it offers to Bharat to become the fulcrum of a new world order. However, on some points, a different view is possible.

He believes that the Ukraine conflict is re-shaping the world order. The governing order was built around free societies, frictionless borders and open economies, he argues. Up to a point this may be true, but how many societies were really free, beginning with China with its central position in the global economy next only to the US. Here we had one free society with extraordinarily deep linkages with what is being reviled today as an autocracy. And these huge economic ties continue despite the political rhetoric. China is by means an open economy, now or in the past, and yet it has risen phenomenally with the support of the West.

As for frictionless borders, our own situation does not endorse this, given the tensions on our borders with China and Pakistan, especially China’s sudden aggression in Ladakh, not to mention the lingering border issues between Russia and Ukraine since 2014 at least.

There is no doubt that, as the former PM says, globalisation produced economic fruits by way of “free movement of goods, services and capital” that resulted in the doubling of GDPs and general peace and prosperity. However, the claim of general peace in the world during the period of globalisation can be contested as this period saw the conflicts in Libya and Syria, for instance, that still continue, China’s maritime aggression in the South China and East China Seas and the enduring war in Afghanistan, not to mention the proliferation of Islamic terrorism, the emergence of the Islamic State and the resurgence of the Taliban culminating in its take-over of Afghanistan through terrorist violence.

As for prosperity, Bharat as well as China has no doubt profited from globalisation. But it began to be contested after the 2008 financial crisis in particular. The sentiment against it grew because of the income inequalities it created both within and between countries, the erosion of the middle classes it caused in western countries with the shifting of production to China in particular, and so on. Protectionist sentiments were growing even before the Covid-19 pandemic struck. The latter has exposed the dangers of the globalisation process through a single country control of critical raw materials and supply chains.

Globalisation has therefore presented a mixed picture. As for free movement of services, Bharat has continued to face problems with regard to its demands that the liberalisation of services should include the movement of our skilled manpower as a service.

To say that the “global village” is a “lived reality” is not entirely true. With the communication revolution and other forms of connectivity, the world has got reduced in size as it were, but if a global village means harmony, living together as a tightly knit community, producing goods to serve its various needs etc. this is not the case. Governance in this global village has never been democratic, its institutions have been dominated by the big powers, reforms of the system are resisted, a unilateral pursuit of self-interest has marked its functioning, and so on.

That this global village has been cemented by the US dollar as a reserve currency, integrated payment systems, advanced transportation networks, and that if this delicate balance is disrupted it will plunge this village into a disequilibrium which will derail the lives of all is a view that raises a few questions. Countries like Russia and China are seeking to trade in national currencies as much as possible as they seek to resist the hegemony of the US dollar. The expulsion of Russia from Swift and the weaponising of finance by Washington as part of enforcing its sanctions on Russia is compelling countries like Bharat to set up a rupee-ruble payment system to maintain some stability in trade with Moscow. The scope of sanctions against Russia should be a wake-up call for non-western countries about the consequences for them of an unbridled US dollar dominated global trading system.

Yet, the former PM believes that entering into some form of bilateral payments system with Russia would be perilous, even to the point of arguing that buying oil and other commodities

at discounted prices would be a departure from the established order of a dollar-based settlement system and that this will jeopardise established trading ties with the West. In reality, this problem has arisen because of the extra-territorial application of US sanctions, not something initiated by Bharat, which is acting in defence of its national interest.

The former PM is against a “forced and hurried dismantling” of the dollar-based system and replacing it with “rushed local currency arrangements” that “can prove to be more detrimental for the global economy in the longer run”. First, it is not possible to quickly move to an alternative system. It will inevitably be a gradual process. It can be reasonably argued that a dispersal of power in the global system, more share in global governance by developing countries, including Bharat, and a reform of the international order organically requires the dilution of the powerful hegemony of the US dollar. Multipolarity would make no sense without it.

That the western powers want to embrace a new paradigm of “free but principled trade” that values both morals and money, as Shri Manmohan Singh notes, is a disputable narrative. What is free and what is principled is defined by them. After all it is they who have been writing the rules of international governance. The manner in which Intellectual Property Rights, for instance, have been used to limit competition and inflate profits as well as deny technology is an unfortunate reality.

Most recently we have seen this reality in the WTO discussions on waiving the TRIPS provisions to allow countries to produce anti-Covid vaccines en masse to meet crying global needs, as proposed by Bharat and South Africa. This is more money than morals. We have come under pressure from the US in the WTO on many issues, disregarding that between a country with a $23 trillion economy and one with less than $3 trillion a “level playing field”, as the US seeks, is not a moral position.

Shri Manmohan Singh’s argues that Bharat needs a nonaligned doctrine for the looming world order as also a non-disruptive geo-economic policy that seeks to maintain the current global economic equilibrium, notwithstanding the fact that the latter has already been disturbed by sanctions against Russia and China’s rising economic challenge to the West. How can Bharat square this circle? He also says that Bharat “needs not just cordial relationships with nations on either side of the new divide but also a stable and established global economic environment”. How Bharat can have cordial ties with Russia (and China) and at the same time fully subscribe to the established global economic order which is currently being disrupted by the US in order to isolate Russia, cause its economic collapse and bring about a regime change there?

The formulation that “It is important for India to adopt a strategic economic self-interest doctrine within the larger paradigm of its non-aligned foreign policy” is not easy to decipher in its practical application. Does it mean that politically Bharat should be non-aligned but economically it should be aligned?

It is not clear how Bharat can be a “fulcrum of this new global order” when the entire argument is not to promote one but accept the current one which the West controls.

Gauhati HC stays baseless remarks against Assam police by Barpeta Sessions Court that granted bail to Mevani

0

The Gauhati High Court on Monday stayed some observations made by the Barpeta District and Sessions Court on the Assam Police while granting bail to Gujarat’s Independent MLA Jignesh Mevani on Friday.

High Court Judge Devashis Baruah passed an order on Monday after the Assam government had challenged the Barpeta District and Sessions Court order, both the bail as well as the observations made by the judge about the Assam Police.

The High Court ordered that the state of Assam through its public prosecutor shall be at liberty to challenge the Barpeta District and Sessions Court order in an appropriate proceedings, if so advised.

“….District judge…. has made certain observations and remarks as regards the entire Police force of Assam, which not only demoralises the police force but also casts aspersions upon the police force. These observations were made without there being any materials on record, on the basis of which the learned Judge could have made such observations and consequently, this Court stays the… observations until further orders. These findings are also prima facie beyond the exercise of the jurisdiction of the Sessions Court in a proceeding under Section 439 Cr.P.C. and accordingly the said observation is also stayed,” the High Court order said.

In Delhi, Mevani on Monday while talking to the media targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed his arrest by Assam police as “conspiracy”.

“I can describe this 56-inches of cowardice, using a woman to frame me in a false case… the Prime Minister’s Office was involved in this conspiracy,” he said.

He said that the Assam government should be “ashamed” as the Barpeta District and Sessions Court made strong remarks while granting him bail.

“On April 19, the FIR was registered. The Assam Police team travelled over 2,500 km on the same day to arrest me. It is clear that my arrest was a pre-planned conspiracy to malign and harass me,” said Mevani, who is also the Convener of Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch.

The District Sessions court in Assam’s Barpeta on Friday granted bail to Mevani, who was first arrested by the Assam police on April 20 in Gujarat in connection with an “objectionable” tweet against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 41-year-old legislator, who was elected from the Vadgam Assembly constituency, was taken to Kokrajhar district the next day.

The Barpeta police arrested him again on April 25 soon after the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Kokrajhar district granted him bail.

Mevani was sent to a five-day police custody by Barpeta’s chief judicial magistrate on April 26 on charges of “voluntarily causing hurt”, “criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty” and “force on a woman cop intending to outrage her modesty”.

The Congress has organised a series of demonstrations across Assam since the “undemocratic arrest” of Mevani, who had earlier pledged outside support to the party.

The Gujarat legislator was arrested in his home state on April 20 following a complaint filed against him by an Assam BJP leader seeking action against Mevani under the IT Act.

Mevani had earlier alleged that his arrest is a deep-rooted conspiracy by the BJP and RSS.

“They (BJP and RSS) are doing this to tarnish my image and are doing this systematically. They did it to Rohit Vemula, they did it to Chandrasekhar Azad, and now they are targeting me,” he had told the media.

Daans that Hindus should do on Akshaya Tritiya

0

Do You know what the favourite place of Kali purusha is? Gold. And do you know that Akshaya means that which gives infinite. “Akshaya tritiya is a day which give Akshaya or infinite results to Karma done that day” Ironically, we are increasing the effects of adharma (Kali), by buying gold that day.

Never ever shastras said that Lakshmi resides in Gold, or is Gold in synonomity with Lakshmi. The places of Lakshmi and which give Lakshmi prapti are only four-

1. Hastha kumbhasthala (the head of elephant)

2. Padma

3. The place where a sumangali Applies Kumkum (above forehead or maang)

4. The Back portion of gowmata

Maa Lakshmi is pleased and blesses only when the above are worshipped. Sadly, on Akshaya tritiya, we are misguided to buy gold, and hence Kali doshas are multiplied, thereby causing great misfortunes.

Shastras have clearly mentioned what has to be done on Akshaya Tritiya-

1. Udakumbha Daanam – meaning giving a new pot full of water either to a temple or to anyone in need.

2. Galanthika Daanam – Galanthika means the pot which is on the Shivalingam which keeps pouring drops of water on Lingam. Galanthika should be donated to a Shiva temple to get rid of extreme difficulties that are burning our lives.

3. Gowseva – Any Daanam given to Gowmata as food, multiplies infinitely and clears many graha doshas, and misfortunes.

4. Pitru Tarpana – Tarpana given to Pitrus on this day give Akshaya punya lokas to departed souls, and hence clears all Pitrudoshas that are the major cause for uncertainty, misfortune, childlessness and failure.

5. Chandana seva to Vishnu – Any Vishnu murti, should be nicely covered with sandalwood paste at home in the morning and Pooja should be done to the murti. This is why chandanostsava is done in Simhachalam temple in Andhra Pradesh

6. Japa, Homa, Daana, Yagna

7. Vyajana, Chhatra, Padaraksha daanam – meaning donating Hand fans, umbrellas, and slippers to needy

8. Gowdaanam

9. Suvarna Daanam – gold should be donated, not owned. Ironically what we do is doing the opposite lured by advertisements and getting bad benefits.

Before getting lured by advertisements of great commercial people, we should explore shastras and help ourselves from doing wrong and getting benefits rightly.

1
Source - The Kashmir Files

Yogi govt to develop Mahabharata Circuit in UP

0
projects

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has embarked upon a mission to tap the immense tourism potential of its abundant historical heritage sites in the state dating from the Mahabharata period to the struggle for independence.

The government is developing the Mahabharata Circuit and Bundelkhand as part of this mission.

Its purpose is also to increase people’s awareness of the state’s rich historical heritage and remind them of the lost and forgotten saga of its heroes such as Rani Laxmibai and Maharaja Suheldev.

According to principal secretary, tourism, Mukesh Meshram, efforts are being made to improve infrastructure and other facilities for tourists in a phase-wise manner at all the significant historical sites as pledged in BJP’s 2022 poll manifesto for the convenience and safety of tourists.

The Yogi government is also trying to promote the sites as brands in order to attract visitors, he added.

“Work is underway to build a grand bronze statue of Maharaja Suheldev riding a 40 feet high horse in Bahraich at the cost of about Rs 45 crore. Similarly, the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Light and Sound Show at Maharaja Bijli Pasi Fort in Lucknow is in progress,” Meshram said.

The Yogi government aims at carrying forward its 2018 policy to develop places of historical significance in Bundelkhand and Mahabharata circuits.

The land of Bundelkhand is synonymous with bravery and culture in itself. In this arid area, the beautiful pond at Charkhari (Mahoba) built by the Chandel Dynasty, which never dries up, is a major attraction for tourists.

Similarly, Kalinjar Fort at Banda as well as heritage sites in Jhansi, Deogarh and Lalitpur continue to be the main centres of attraction for domestic and foreign tourists.

Besides, the Chunar Fort in Mirzapur district, the origin of the popular stories of Chandrakanta, which was built by King Vikramaditya of Ujjain in memory of his brother Bharthari in the 16th century, is also a major attraction for tourists while Hastinapur, Kampilya (Farrukhabad), Barnwa (Baghpat), Mathura, Kaushambhi, Gonda and Ahichchhatra remind people of the Mahabharata period.

The state government is working on construction of the memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji in Agra apart from developing Maharaja Bijli Pasi Fort in Lucknow as a world-class tourist destination.

Kovind to be first President to attend regional language literary meet in NE

0

For the first time, the President will attend and address the regional language literary meet in the northeast region, which presents a complex linguistic mosaic and jealously preserved over 200 dialects.

President Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled to address the valedictory session of the 61st annual conference of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) in western Assam’s Tamulpur on May 4. The three-day conference begins on Monday.

The Assam government has sanctioned special casual leave to the state government employees who would participate in the conference to be held ay Kachubari in Tamulpur under Bodoland Territorial Region.

“This would be a historic occasion as no President of India has ever attended any literary event of any language in the northeast region,” BSS President Toren C. Boro said on Sunday.

Over 4,000 delegates are expected to attend the three-day conference from different parts of the world. A large number of people speaking Bodo language livein Bangladesh, Nepal, Tripura, Nagaland and West Bengal besides Assam.

The BSS has undertaken a massive campaign and arrangement to make the event successful. It has also released a theme song for the conference.

Inspired by the Assam Sahitya Sabha (ASS), the BSS was formed in 1952 for the development of literature, culture, and language. It is playing a leading role in maintaining coordination among different ethnic groups.

The influential ASS was formed in 1917 primarily to promote Assamese literature.

The Bodos (or Boros), once were a powerful and dominant race in the entire northeastern India but are at present struggling for the bare existence. Racially, the Bodos, the earliest known ethnic group to inhabit Assam with their distinctive culture and linguistic traits belong to the Mongoloid stock of the Indo-Mongoloids or Indo-Tibetans, an official document said.

The Assam government recognised the Bodo language as an associate official language of the state in 2020 after the signing of the Bodo peace accord between the Centre, Assam government and four Bodo militant outfits in January 2020.

According to the Census 2011, there are around 14.16 lakh Bodo speakers in Assam (4.53 per cent) of the total population of the state.

US threatens Solomon Islands with military action over security deal with China

The US has threatened the Solomon Islands with military action after the latter recently signed a security deal with China.

According to a report by The Guardian:

One of the most senior US officials in the Pacific has refused to rule out military action against the Solomon Islands if it were to allow China to establish a military base there, saying that the security deal between the countries presented “potential regional security implications” for the US and other allies.

Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink, assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, was part of a high-level US delegation to the Pacific country last week.

He said the US team, which also included the National Security Council coordinator for Indo-Pacific affairs, Kurt Campbell, had a 90-minute “constructive and candid” meeting with prime minister Manasseh Sogavare in which the US team detailed concerns about its recently signed security deal with China.

“We wanted to outline for our friends in the Solomons, what our concerns are,” said Kritenbrink. “Prime minister Sogavare indicated that in the Solomon Islands’ view, the agreement they’ve concluded has solely domestic implications. But we’ve made clear that there are potential regional security implications of the agreement not just for ourselves, but for allies and partners across the region.”…

…In a statement last week, the Biden administration said the US would “respond accordingly” if China was allowed to establish a long-term presence on the islands while noting assurances from Sogavare that he had no intention of allowing a military base…

…Kritenbrink also noted China’s military ambitions, saying: “I think it’s important in this context, to keep in mind that we do know that the PRC [People’s Republic of China] is seeking to establish a more robust overseas logistics and basic infrastructure that would allow the PLA [People’s Liberation Army] to project and sustain military power at greater distances. So we wanted to have that candid conversation with our friends in the Solomons. We outlined our concerns … and we’ve indicated that we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely and continue to engage with them going forward.”

The details of the deal between China and the Solomon Islands are reportedly a secret. MPs from the Island have asked the country’s Prime Minister to make the deal public. However, a draft of the deal leaked on social media last month revealed provisions that allowed China to “make ship visits to, carry out logistical replenishment in, and have stopover and transition in the Solomon Islands”.

Everything you need to know about Pakistan’s systemic forced conversions of Hindu minorities

0

Here’s an article that explains everything you need to know about Pakistan’s systemic forced conversions. If you want to talk about Pakistan, you must understand the system.

Recently in Pakistan, a 22-year-old Hindu girl named Vidya was:
– forcibly converted into Islam
– forced to marry an old, Islamist man
– forced to wear a headscarf
– forced to change her Hindu name into an Islamic one, “Rani Shaikh”

Vidya is one out of the thousands of Hindu girls in Pakistan who are being systemically persecuted. To help raise awareness for vulnerable Hindus like her, you need to understand how the state of Pakistan facilitates these forced conversions.

Under section 295C of Pakistan’s Penal Code, Hindus could face a mandatory death penalty and fine for blasphemy. Legally, their case must be presented under a Muslim judge.

Although at least 3 Hindu girls are kidnapped and forcibly converted into Islam daily in Pakistan, you rarely hear about it on the news because it could cost Hindu lives to speak up. Amnesty International has stated “there is overwhelming evidence that the laws violate human rights”.

Pakistani police don’t always register forced conversion cases. Pakistan’s police are one of the biggest facilitators in forced conversions. The National Corruption Perception Survey 2021 found that the police and the judiciary are the most corrupt institutions in Pakistan.

Pakistani Hindus can’t talk about forced conversions (in public or private) without a police report otherwise they will be charged with blasphemy. Since the police don’t even register cases, Pakistani Hindu girls, their families and their community are usually forced into silence.

Anti-forced conversion bills are frequently rejected. The state government of Sindh, Pakistan has repeatedly rejected bills to prevent forced conversions (specifically in the years 2016, 2019, and 2021).

There are 4.5million Hindus in Pakistan. Hindus are banned from becoming Prime Minister and have no representation in Pakistan’s Islamic-theocratic government, making Hindus reliant on Muslim lawmakers to ensure their safety. Hindus are constantly failed by the state of Pakistan and its lawmakers.

Pakistan’s education system encourages Hinduphobia.

A 2011 Pew Research Center study found that Pakistan is the third most intolerant country in the world.

American-backed, General Zia-ul-Haq Islamised Pakistan’s textbooks. His measures are still supported by Pakistan’s right-wing, pan-Islamist political parties.

Textbooks in Pakistan usually depict Hindus as the “enemies of Islam.” Meanwhile, Muslims are portrayed as “peaceful.” Pakistan’s Hindus are forced to learn religious Islamic material even in public schools.

Pakistan was built on the nationalist belief that Indian-Muslims are superior turkic colonisers who need a theocratic country. During the Islamic conquest of South Asia (specifically the Mughal rule), Hindu women who did not cover their heads could legally be treated as sex slaves by Muslim men. This practice caused many Hindu women to protest by taking their own lives.

Nothing has changed! Indigenous Hindu women are still being exploited and forced to cover their heads in Pakistan by people who call themselves Turkic colonisers.

Pakistani Hindus can’t speak up for themselves without risking their lives.

If you live outside of Pakistan, please be an ally and stand with indigenous Hindus.
